Expanding Services!

We are expanding our services in Winston-Salem!

We are so excited to announce our expanding services in Winston-Salem! We have had a satellite office in Winston-Salem since 2004 and have wanted to be able to do more!  Now is the time!

We are moving to 704 Brookstown Avenue,
Winston-Salem in November!

Our expanded services will include Medical Case Management, Bi-Lingual Medical Case Management, support groups for women, men, mixed groups and bi-lingual; Life Skills classes to teach budgeting, looking for a job, resume building, being a responsible tenant and shopping for food on a budget.  We even hope to offer cooking classes in the future!  We hope there will be even more we can provide as time goes on.  We will have expanded volunteer opportunities as well.

We need your help with this move - donations of office furniture - desks, chairs, filing cabinets, couches, comfortable chairs, art work, lamps, curtains, rugs, book shelves - just about anything to make our new space look inviting and comfortable.  We will gladly provide a tax donation receipt for your help.  If you have any of these items, please let us know and we will coordinate pick up or be there for delivery!  Our goal is to be completely set up before the end of November.

Our main office will remain in Lexington at 400 East Center Street.

We truly appreciate your support with this exciting expansion@  we can't wait to get started - and with your help we will make a difference in many more lives of people who continue to battle HIV disease.

We want to maintain our philosophy of Positive Wellness Alliance being a safe haven for our clients.

P - We are PASSIONATE about our clients and their
       stories!
W - We're dedicated to treating the WHOLE person!
A - We're striving for community ACCEPTANCE!

We continue to be grateful for your support!

How I Give Back - Ryan Jones

When we talk about giving and donations, we usually think first of money. Though organizations like Positive Wellness Alliance depend on monetary support from our friends and family, we also depend on our Board of Directors and their donation of something that money cannot buy... the donation of their time. Our Board of Directors is comprised of women and men in our local community who strive to not only see the bigger picture, but also to be an officer of change and hope. Here is an article written by one of our board members about why she serves.

How I Give Back

For the last four years I have been a proud board member for Positive Wellness Alliance. I was introduced to PWA after my "initiation" into the nonprofit world as a new employee of Communities In Schools of Lexington/Davidson County. I saw joining the PWA board as a way for me to play a bigger role within the local network of organizations serving others and bringing stability to this community as a whole. The mission of PWA in particular resonated strongly with me.
Much like the work that brings me joy every day at Communities In Schools, PWA's mission extends beyond the hurdles faced by individuals and instead acknowledges the impact of HIV on entire families and their extended networks.
As a board member for PWA, I am given a unique opportunity to work on the front lines of eradicating stigma related to this disease. It is my hope that in turn we can create an environment that sees less new contractions as well as increased compassion for those already living with positive status.
This is the root of my passion for PWA - the chance to be part of a movement toward increased sexual, emotional, and environmental health for every community we serve.

Sharing the Christmas Spirit!

Sending a special note to our friends and community partners for helping us make Christmas a glowing success this year!

We want to thank everyone who helped this year, providing for 74 children, the most ever! Businesses, churches, families, friends, partners, individuals - all came together this year and are filling our clients, their children and grandchildren with fun and warmth and knowing that generous folks care about them!

We attempted to give each of you a little information about the client and your child - a little peek into the lives they lead. Their lives are so much different than yours and mine. We wish you could have seen the smiles on the faces of the parents and grandparents when they picked up their gifts! Total and complete amazement and gratitude for people who gave without knowing anything about them. This is one of the few times that we see beautiful smiles on their faces!

Several of you very sheepishly said, " I went a little crazy or a little overboard - I hope that's okay - I just had so much fun buying gifts for this child"! Those comments and more warmed our hearts.

It's times like this that make this job worth doing. We say this often, and we truly mean this, together, we do make a difference!

The clients, staff and Board of Directors thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts. Your belief in our work and support of our work make coming to work a little easier each and every day.

Sincerely,

The Positive Wellness Alliance Team
