FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

POSITIVE WELLNESS ALLIANCE PARTNERS WITH DOORDASH

Winston Salem, NC (April 4, 2022) - Before the pandemic, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services published information showing the Winston Salem metropolitan area was among the worst food deserts in the nation. Positive Wellness Alliance just announced a partnership with DoorDash through their Project DASH initiative to tackle this crisis. This will make Positive Wellness Alliance one of the few food pantries offering this service in the state.

“In the middle of a growing hunger crisis, it is important that we play our role in the solution,” said Kristiana Moore, Positive Wellness Alliance’s Food Pantry Coordinator. “Food insecurity affects everyone, no matter who they are.”

Project DASH is an initiative through DoorDash that is aimed at helping to reduce food insecurities in our communities. Through Project DASH people are able to request food boxes from food pantries. A Dasher then comes to the food pantry, picks up the food items, and is able to deliver them free of charge to those who request the help.

“We want to make sure that those in our service area have access to quality food and don’t have to face food insecurities,” said Executive Director, Sophia Russell. “As an organization we always aim to help our community. This is just another way that we can make an impact.”

Beginning on April 4th, people who live within a ten mile radius of the Brookstown Ave office, are eligible to receive this service.

Positive Wellness Alliance is a 501c(3) organization that helps people living with HIV/AIDS in eight counties in North Carolina. The organization provides case management, financial assistance, and housing assistance services as well as a community food pantry, which is open to the public.
