POSITIVE WELLNESS ALLIANCE AWARDED 20,000 for DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION TRAINING
Winston-Salem, NC (June 10, 2022) - The success of any non-profit rests on the ability of their staff to recognize and appreciate the unique differences within one another, and the community in which they serve. One way to achieve such awareness is through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training of staff and stakeholders. Because of their commitment to DEI informed policies and procedures,, Positive Wellness Alliance was awarded a $20,000 grant by the Winston-Salem Foundation to conduct their training.
“The core principles of what we do is rooted in the awareness of the authentic human experience” said Sophia Russell, Executive Director of Positive Wellness Alliance. “By acknowledging our unique differences and experiences, we are able to create a more complete picture of the world in which we live and operate. This grant will ensure that we as an organization continue to be cognizant of the world around us, its people, and the challenges that face us.”
The Winston-Salem Foundation is a community foundation that supports charitable programs in the greater Forsyth County area. Founded in 1919 with a $1,000 gift, it now administers more than 1,550 funds and had total custodial assets of $620.1 million at the end of 2020. In 2020, the Foundation granted $125.8 million to charitable causes, $3.2 million of which was through its Community Grants program.
Positive Wellness Alliance is a 501c(3) organization that helps people living with HIV/AIDS in eight counties in North Carolina. Founded in 1992, and incorporated in 1994, the organization provides case management, financial assistance, and housing assistance services as well as a community food pantry, which is open to the public.
